Mayor Bhaskar Inspects Development Projects in City

Mangaluru: Mayor Bhaskar K along with MCC officials inspected various development projects in the city here on July 12.

At present the work of Rs 26.41 crore worth development projects such as road widening, concreting, bridges and footpaths is in progress in the city.

Road widening and Vamanjoor – Bondel Connectivity

The widening of the four kilometers road from Vamanjoor to Bondel is almost completed. At Pachchnadi from Waste Dumping Yard, the road to Bondel has been widened to 11 meters. At Pachchanadi the bridge construction work and the road development work has been done at a cost of Rs 3.69 crore. Additional funds of Rs 3.69 crores is required for the total development of this road.

This road will be the shortest for people who travel from Gurupur – Vamanjoor to Bondel and Mangaluru. Developing this road will be very useful for people who travel to Mangaluru avoiding the traffic jam on Gurupur – Vamanjoor – Bikkarnakatta – Nanthur road and will help in the free movement of vehicles.

The Pachchanadi bridge is 12 meters wide and has been completed in a record time of two months. Now the Bridge is all set for use. The total cost of the project is Rs 1.5 crore.

Kadri Park Development under Amrit Scheme

Mayor Bhaskar visited the Kadri park and inspected the newly constructed public toilets at a cost of Rs 12 lakh. Under the Amrit Scheme Rs 1.16 crore worth various development projects have been carried out including the open Gym, walking track, re-fixture of Interlocks, facilities for special children in the park etc.

Beautification of Footpaths

From Ballalbagh to Durgha Mahal, the 600-meter stretch road has been widened, footpaths and the drainage have also been developed at a cost of Rs 1.17 crore. The footpaths have been beautified and saplings are also planted in this stretch. A 600 meter stretch of the Missiongori road is widened at a cost of Rs 70 lakh.

Widening of Kankanady Railway station Road

The widening of the Kankanady Railway station Road is under progress at a cost of Rs 2.05 crore. Two E-Toilets will be constructed at a cost of Rs 14 lakh at KHB Maidan Pakkaladka. Indira canteen will be set up near Pumpwell Junction and the Jeppu Kudpadi road widening work has been carried out at a cost of Rs 43.27 lakh. The S L Mathias Road widening and development of the footpath is done at a cost of Rs 4.42 crores and the road widening, footpath and drainage work will be carried out at a cost of Rs 2.5 crore.

Kankanady – Koti Chennaya Circle

The Fr Muller Hospital road from Kankanady to Nandigudda (Koti -Chennaya Circle) is being widened and will be a model road. Already the Conical Lighting Poles have been erected on the dividers. This road has been developed as per the Belagavi road model and 48 special electrical poles have been installed at a cost of Rs 90 lakhs.

Deputy Mayor Mohammed, Corporators Praveen Chandra Alva, Premanand Shetty, Roopa D Bangera, Former Mayor Sashidhar Hegde, MCC Commissioner Mohammed Nazir and others were also present.
