Mourinho takes a dig at Arsenal’s Wenger again

Manchester, July 6 (IANS) Manchester United chief coach Jose Mourinho has once again taken a dig at his Arsenal counterpart Arsene Wenger indirectly, stating some coaches’ have not won a major club football trophy in 10 years.

Mourinho and Wenger’s feud dates back to the mid-2000s, when the former had come in for his first spell at Chelsea and it looks set to be reignited this season too.

The Portuguese tactician was asked if he can bounce back this summer after being sacked by Chelsea last December. Mourinho took the opportunity to make a veiled attack on Wenger.

“There are some managers, the last time they won a title was 10 years ago. For me, it was one year,” the 53-year-old was quoted as saying by the Independent on Wednesday.

Wenger, who is presently the longest serving coach in the English Premier League (EPL), has not lifted the domestic trophy since the 2003/2004 season.

Arsenal finished second in the 2015-16 EPL, while Chelsea came 10th.

The pair infamously came to physical blows during a league match between Chelsea and Arsenal at Stamford Bridge in October 2014.

Mourinho had previously called Frenchman Wenger a “voyeur” and a “specialist in failure”.
