Mumbai, Nov 27 (IANS) Designers Nishka Lulla, Nikhil Thampi and Nachiket Barve, who are known as weave magic in the fashion world, have lent their creativity to Canvas, a Jet Gems sub-brand meant to appeal to the contemporary woman.

Jet Gems is a specialist in customised jewellery since 1981. Its Canvas collection features pieces that are carefully crafted and designed to be worn daily and at work. It features playful jewellery with a modern twist, perfect for board meetings or after work meet-ups.

“With the ever-evolving tastes of the young, working generation, it is essential to push the creative envelope. When artists with different sensibilities come together to create something exclusive, the outcome is bound to be special,” Pradeep Jethani, proprietor at Jet Gems, said in a statement.

Lulla, who is known for her fairy tale-inspired style, has created a line for which she has drawn inspiration from nature.

She has used red tourmalines, green peridots and aqua blue stones in her statement pieces.

Talking about it, Lulla said: “The designs in this collection use bright, vibrant colours that I love because they express feminine strength and individuality. They are a tribute to women and their work, with shapes that explore modern femininity. These quirky yet wearable pieces can be worn at any time of the day with a broad range of outfits.”

Barve, on the other hand, has lent his modern aesthetics with inspiration from his ‘Chiaroscuro’ collection. The other part of his collection features the ‘diamond dew drop’ line where the textures of hand-sculpted metal, prominently gold, is celebrated in the motifs of lotus and water lily leaves.

The designer who believes in the ‘Less is More’ notion, said: “Much like the multi-tasking roles that the women of today so effortlessly embrace, their jewellery should reflect those challenges and traverse the spectrum of sartorial needs effortlessly.”

In his collection, Thampi has included a mix of long earrings and geometric rings, his line has differently shaped coloured stones.

“I believe that there is beauty in the numerous roles a woman plays – a mother, a daughter, a sister, a friend, a confidante, and the ultimate muse. The interesting play of coloured gemstones in this line reflects upon the different facets of a woman. This line is an ode to all those women, who break from the conventions of society and stand out as sparkling examples of innocence, strength and purity,” he said.

The Canvas collection is priced between Rs.5000 and Rs.1,50,000 and is available at the Jet Gems store in Bandra here.
