NKA-K Kuwait holds Family Sports Day

Kuwait: The much awaited NKAK Family Sports day was held on 22nd March 2019 with great zeal, excitement and frolicsome atmosphere. The programme began with a prayer led by Sharon Carvalho followed by a delicious breakfast. Thereafter the participants entered into the spirit of the occasion in a grand way. Once the energizing display of cricket began, under the leadership of Sports Secretary Joseph Tellis, the air was filled with cheering and tons of encouragement for the participants. Joseph Durado and Diego Carvalho diligently did the task of score writing. Live commentary by Glenny Lopes set the tone for the rest of the event. Sound system arranged by Francis Fernandes kept the crowd so lively.

As the men kept themselves busy with volleyball, Lagori, Gilli daandu etc., the ladies enjoyed themselves playing throwball, lagori, skipping and other competitive games; while children were really thrilled playing some amusing games.

The chief guest of the event Fr Bonaventure Rodrigues, a renowned visiting priest from India, was felicitated at the event. He touched the hearts of the audience with his heartfelt words of appreciation towards the Association, acknowledging their selfless efforts and charitable deeds carried out since the past few years. It was indeed a pleasure to see the Chief guest playing cricket on the ground along with President John Fernandes and others. He displayed a great sense of humility and love, as he interacted with the camp boys at lunchtime.

The valedictory function started at 6 pm and the highlight of the function was the presence of Ex-President Joseph L D’Souza as the Guest of honour. He appreciated the works of the Association as well as thanked the sponsors especially Agility who contribute year after year in a great way, in making this sporting event possible. The other noble sponsors were Laxminarayan Batho, Operations Manager, Agility; Ayyoub Kachery, MD, Grand Hyper Market; Steven Fernandes, Al Othman & Al Bisher Trading Co.; Arabian Beverages Co.; Vally D’Sa, MD, Khalil Bahman Group and Rajesh Malani GM of Al Ghanim and Al Maya Group.

The winning teams in cricket were Boom Boom Boys who bagged the winner’s trophy and runners up were S. J. Boys. Winners of Volley Ball were MFC (Mangalorean Friends Cricketers) and runners up were Boom Boom Boys. Throw ball winners were Karwar Tigers and runners up were Karwar Lions.

Delicious breakfast, lunch evening tea with snacks was enjoyed by everyone. The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Marita.
