Mangaluru: St Aloysius College Management and St Aloysius College Alumni Association (SACAA) jointly organized the Eminent Aloysian Alumni Award 2016 at Fr L F Rasquinha Hall, LCRI Block of St Aloysius College here on March 19.
The programme began with an invocation. President of SACAA Dr Richard Gonsalves welcomed the gathering. The programme was inaugurated by Fr Denzil by lighting the traditional lamp along with other dignitaries on the dais. Five eminent Aloysians who have excelled in their respective fields and have made a significant contribution to the society were felicitated with the prestigious Eminent Aloysian Alumni Award.
Rector of St Alyosius Institutions Fr Denzil Lobo felicitated Walter D’Souza, (Exporter and Managing Partner of M/s Fernandes Brothers), Thumbay Moideen, (founder of Thumbay Group UAE), Dr Ullas Karanth senior conservation scientist and Director of the US-based Wildlife Conservation Society’s India Programme, Dr K P Rao (Prestigious Nadoja award winner ) and Prof B S Raman (Popular author) with peta, shawl, flower bouquets, citation and a memento for their tremendous achievements in various fields.
Addressing the gathering Fr Denzil said that today we have felicitated five achievers who have excelled in their respective fields be it in education, medical or entrepreneurship. They have brought laurels to our Institution and have fulfilled the Institution motto. We are very proud of all the five achievers. St Aloysius is delivering quality education to the students and most of the students who have studied in this institution are shining in the national and international level.
One of the awardee Thumbay Moideen, through power-point presentation briefed on Thumbay group and its activities in the medical field in the gulf country. Thumbay Moideen also said that today whatever he is in his life it is because of the education he received at St Aloysius which has made him to be a disciplined citizen.
Walter D’Souza, Dr Ullas Karanth Dr K P Rao also spoke on the occasion. SACAA also felicitated Fr Denzil on the occasion. Chairman of the organizing committee Michael D’Souza delivered the vote of thanks.
Principal St Aloysius college Fr Swebert D’Silva, vice-principal John D’Silva, Prof Edmund Frank and Fr Michael were also present.
