Thumbay Labs Enter Indian Diagnostic Sector – First Lab Opens in Hyderabad

UAE: Thumbay Labs, the leading network of private diagnostic labs in the Middle East region owned by Thumbay Group has entered in the Indian diagnostic sector, with its first lab in the country open at Hyderabad. The new facility is housed within Thumbay Hospital New Life – Hyderabad and offers a wide portfolio of advanced tests.

“In line with our strategic plans, we have launched the first outlet of Thumbay Labs at our Thumbay Hospital premises in Hyderabad. It is the first of its kind in the city to offer the complete range of diagnostic services. This marks our first step to opening more outlets with comprehensive clinical testing facilities like Imaging, Cardio/Neuro tests, Occupational health-related tests, Allergy and intolerance testing and a wide array of preventive health panels,” said Thumbay Moideen, Founder President of Thumbay Group. “Thumbay Labs also undertakes hospital lab management and has entered into acquisitions/mergers in a big way, with plans to further expand its presence,” he added.

Thumbay Labs operates its apex laboratory “Center for Advanced Biomedical Research and Innovation” (CABRI), a state-of-the-art facility established at the Gulf Medi¬cal University, Ajman – UAE, for research and diagnostics. Its comprehensive and modern facilities offer unique advantages such as complete end-to-end automation, online report availability, automated email report dispatch, research and referral facilities, QMS expertise, etc.

With its chain of three College of American Pathologists (CAP) accredited Labs in the UAE, Thumbay Labs have established themselves one of the most trusted names in diagnostic testing. It is now the largest chain of diagnostic labs in the private sector in UAE as well as the fifth largest standalone lab. Considering the Middle East region as a whole, Thumbay Labs are among the largest service providers in terms of the range of tests available, the number of diagnostic tests done and revenue.

Thumbay Labs are on the path of several new initiatives to widen their tests portfolio and to increase revenue. The brand is eyeing major hospitals, both in the private and government sectors, to expand its clientele. It has plans to further expand to new locations in the UAE as well as in several countries including India. A key strategy is to focus on “specialized segments” targeting key specialties like diabetes, genetics, women and child health.

Dr P K Menon, Director of Thumbay Labs said that the brand was poised to be an important player in the diagnostics industry of UAE, India, and the MENA region. “We are undertaking our next phase of expansion by introducing new technologies like MALDI-TOF, ICPMS, FTIR which will position us as the best-equipped lab in these regions. We are looking for collaboration so as to enhance lab quality and productivity of client laboratories. We plan to introduce Diplomate Programs for post-graduate training in Pathology. We also are keen to enhance innovation in medical research,” he added.
