Udupi: PM Narendra Modi is serving as the business promoter of Adani and Reliance groups and letting their chairman accompany him during his foreign visits, alleged Congress leader Amrith Shenoy. He was speaking during a protest organised by the Indian National Congress against the rising price for essential commodities in front of the Clock Tower here, on June 2.
“The assets of Adani and Reliance have grown higher after PM Modi came to power. The Congress has no issues with the PM’s foreign visits but at the same time, he should also visit the farmers whose life has been destroyed because of the anti-farmer policies adopted by the central government. The PM has spent 600 crores on his foreign visits to 17 countries but the investment flowing into India is uncertain. The government is busy modifying slogans while the development promised to the people is in vain. The Swachh Bharath Abhiyan will only be successful if the BJP leaders can first clean their communal mindsets,” he said.
“The efforts made by the central government to bring back the black money has failed. The recent statement by Amit Shah saying that the promise of bringing back money was ‘Jhumla’ (election promise) indicates their mindset. The BJP who lectured UPA on terror activities is promoting terror by setting free the terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir with the help of the PDP.”
“Former PM Manmohan Singh was a visionary and his bold decisions on economic reforms led the country to flourish, while the NDA led government is finding hard to maintain economic stability in the country. The BJP had then opposed allowing FDA in retail and insurance sector but soon after assuming power, it allowed FDA in defense, railways.”
“Narendra Modi’s election promises are becoming hard to be fulfilled but the Congress has made a move to object his anti-people policies. Congress may be 44 in number at present, but soon in the next elections it will be 440,” he said.
“The RSS and the right wing associations who shout on nationalism are now silent on PDP-BJP’s stand on dealing with traitors of the land. Terror activities were under control during the UPA regime but now it has risen to a great extent and still, the central government is silent about it.”
Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev delivered a long lecture which was just for gaining publicity. PM launched ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padao’ campaign but his close associate Baba Ramdev is busy in selling ayurvedic medicine ‘Puthrjeevak’ promising male child. The BJP’s stand on banning cow slaughter is irrelevant as there is confusion among themselves, he added.
CMC President Yuvraj, CMC Vice-President Amrutha Krishnamurthy, ZP Member Mallika Balakrishna Shetty, CMC Councillors Ramesh Kanchan, Janardhan Bandarkar, Celina Karkada, Youth Congress President Vikas Shetty, Sujay Poojary, Meenakshi Madhav Bannaje and others were present.
