USA: Sri Krishna Brundavanam was started in 2004 as a Branch of Sri Puthige Matha Udupi in Woodland Hills area of Los Angeles. It served the daily spiritual needs of thousands of devotees, but due to the lack of space and parking, the management of the Matha kept searching for a bigger location.
With the blessings of Lord Sri Krishna and Sri Raghavendra Swamigalu, the temple has now found a bigger location near Thousand Oaks. On Sunday, June 28, with the gracious presence of 1008 Sri Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji of Sri Puthige Matha and Vidya Vachaspati Dr. Bannaje Govindacharya, the temple was inaugurated at the new location. A dozen senior priests from various branches of the Matha performed the rituals of Sri Srinivasa Kalyana Mahotsava in the presence of around 800 devotees. The grand opening ceremony was also witnessed by Ed Royce, a member of the United States House of Representatives for California’s 39th congressional district, with his esteemed presence.
In the afternoon, the world-renowned scholar Dr Bannanje Govindacharya from Udupi delivered a spiritual discourse on the topic “How Bhagavad Gita and Madhva philosophy are relevant in today’s life”. It was followed by a Carnatic vocal music concert by the famous artist R K Padmanabha and Group from Bengaluru, India.
