We should Clean our Minds to Make Swacch Bharat Abhiyan Successful- Nana Patekar

Mangaluru: The 200th Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan by Ramakrishna Mission was inaugurated by popular Bollywood Actor, writer, filmmaker and Social Activist Nana Patekar by painting the Mangaluru University College wall at Hampankatta here on February 12.

Prior to the Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan rally, the new auto rickshaw stand was inaugurated by Swami Jitakamanandaji of Ramakrishna Math by cutting the ribbon opposite Mangaluru University college.

The 200th Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan was inaugurated by Nana Patekar by painting the wall and flagging off the rally.

Addressing the gathering Nana Patekar said, “Swacch Bharat means we should involve ourselves in cleaning our surroundings and nearby areas clean. If we keep our home and our surroundings clean, our country will be beautiful and prosper. We talk about cleanliness, but we forget our responsibilities. Cleanliness is a basic need which is to keep ourselves, our homes and surroundings clean. If we keep ourselves clean, we will remain healthy. Cleanliness will wipe out the dirt from our minds and keep us clean which will help us to remain healthy. It is sad to know that we have to organize Swacch Bharat abhiyans, to make our country clean. PM Modi has started this initiative to make our country clean but people are negligent. People should understand the basic needs and they should voluntarily keep their surroundings clean”.

When asked why the people are so negligent about the Swacch Bharat Abhiyan, Nana Patekar said, “The Swacch Bharat Abhiyan should not be a momentary drive but should be our way of life. Ramakrishna Mission is organising the Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan to keep the city clean. We are busy in making money and forget to take care of our house and society. We do not think of the society, we are selfish thinking only about our house, our family and money. If we think of our country we can surely make our country clean. The government will change, but we need to understand our responsibilities for our country.

Nana Patekar also said, “If we go to other countries we praise those countries for the cleanliness and we strictly follows the rules and behave well. But in our country, we don’t care for the law since the law is not strict here. It is good to see college students joining hands with Ramakrishna Mission in the Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan and I am really grateful to Ramakrishna Mission for their great initiative in cleaning the city”.

Convenor of Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan of Ramakrishna Mission Swami Chidambarananda, Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, Capt Ganesh Karnik and others were also present.
