2 Govt Officials Caught Red Handed for Demanding Bribe by SP Uma Prashanth of ACB

 Mangaluru: Under the guidance of Uma Prashanth – SP of ACB, the Police personnel from Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), on Tuesday 21 May, caught red handed two govt employees for demanding bribe of Rs 10,000 in exchange for handing over a cheque to a person as part of the subsidy amount sanctioned by the government.

It is learnt that the arrested govt officials are Sridhar Bhandary, the District Nanager of Minorities Development Corporation, and office staff, Rahil. After being taken into custody, the both were produced in the court,a nd the Judge remanded them to 15 days judicial custody.


As per ACB, a person had applied for a loan at the Minorities Development Corporation to start a dairy business, and he was sanctioned subsidy amount of one lac rupees, for which the duo, Bhandary and Rahil had demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 in order to hand over the cheque of Rs 1 lakh to them.to be handed over to him. After a bargain, the person had agreed to pay Rs 7,000 to the duo, and at the same time had complained to the ACB department.

In response, on Tuesday, the ACB sleuths stormed into the office of Bhandary, and caught him red handed when the bribe money was handed over to him. His clerk, Rahil was also arrested for setting up the bribe deal.

The raid was conducted by Manjunath,the Deputy Superintendent of Police; Yogish Kumar, Satish B and Mohan Kottary, all three police Inspectors at ACB, under the direction of Uma Prashanth, the ACB-Superintendent of Police.
