20-year-old Shailesh Upadhyay Named Successor of Palimar Math

Udupi: “20-year-old Shailesh Upadhyay has been chosen as the 31st successor of Palimar Math”, said Sri Vidyadeesha Theertha Swamiji at a press meet held at the Sri Krishna Math here on March 27.

Addressing the mediapersons Swamiji said, “After thorough discussions with the Math scholars, astrologers and getting the permission of the family members, we have appointed Shailesh Upadhyay as the successor to efficiently manage the Palimar Math.”

Shailesh is a resident of Kodavoor Kambalakatte. Shailesh was born in the year 2000 as the second son of the 2 children of Surendra and Laxmi Upadhyay. Shailesh has completed his SSLC and is presently studying the Veda Adhyana for the fourth year at Palimar Yoga Peeta. His father Surendra Upadhyay is also a well-known temple priest in Padubidri. His elder brother Vishwesha Upadhyay is studying Ayurveda. Mother Laxmi is a homemaker.

Speaking to the mediapersons Shailesh said, “I had very much interest in spirituality right from my childhood. My Guru has given me responsibilities with faith and good trust. He has also given me a chance to offer Puja to Lord Sri Krishna. I am committed to living up to the expectations to the best of my abilities”.

The religious rituals prior to the appointment of the successor will begin at Sri Krishna Math on May 9 and the coronation will take place on May 12. After the ceremony, he would be sent to Palimar Vidyapeeta for further study of the Shastra.
