20-Year Prison for Accused in Gang-Rape of Minor

Udupi: The Udupi district sessions court on July 9 awarded 20-years imprisonment and Rs 60,000 fine to two men involved in the 2017 kidnapping and rape case of a minor girl.

The district sessions court had on July 9, convicted Jeffry and Suhail for raping a minor girl at a lodge on June 27, 2017.

On June 27, 2017, the accused asked the minor girl to come to the Syndicate Circle near Manipal. After she reached the Syndicate Circle, they took her to the Arbi falls, made her drink alcohol forcibly, and took her to a lodge where they raped her.

The girl’s mother filed a complaint against Jeffry and Suhail at the Manipal Police station. Based on the complaint, the Manipal police arrested the accused. Sudharshan M the former CPI Manipal, submitted the charge sheet to the court against the accused.

The senior judge of POCSO court sentenced them to 20-years imprisonment and Rs 60,000 fine.
