24th Alva’s Virasat 2018- a National Cultural Fest Kicks off on Jan 12

Mangaluru: Addressing the media persons during a press meet held at Mangalore Press Club, Dr Mohan Alva- chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation said, “Alva’s Virasat is a cultural extravaganza that Alva’s Education Foundation celebrates. The 24th celebration of Alva’s Virasat is going to be held from 12th to 14th January 2018 at Putthige, Vivekananda Nagara campus of Alva’s College, Moodbidre. Every day minimum 5 cultural programmes including dance, concerts will be adding the glory will take place. We are expecting a crowd of nearly 40,000 people, for the events held in open air auditorium in the sylvan surrounding enveloped in a serene environment”.

“All the programmes start in time, and we request the audience to occupy seats 15 minutes prior to the event to avoid disappointment. Free bus facility from Nishmitha Towers to Puthige from 5 pm onwards and to return after the programme has been arranged. There is also ample parking space, so there is no need to worry. Formal function will be held on 12 January, at 5.30pm with PB Acharya-Governor of Nagaland as chief guest, joined by guests of honor-Dr D Veerendra Heggade-Dharmadhikari of Srishethra Dharmasthala; MP Nalin Kumar Kateel; MLA Abhayachandra Jain; MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik; DC Sasikanth Senthil; among many other VIP’s” added Dr Alva.

Friday, 12th January- Alva’s Virasat 2018 will be inaugurated with a massive cultural procession. 5.30-6.30 will be dedicated for Stage programs. Inauguration will be done by Governor of Nagaland-P B Acharya, a native of Udupi and an active member of ABVP, who has positioned various portfolios in BJP. He was successfully involved in North East Indian Tribal Youth Education’s “ India My Home “ campaign organized by ABVP. He sheltered many tribal students and encouraged them to be independent.

Alva’s Virasat Award 2018:

Padmabhushan Pandit Rajan and Sajan Mishra , the well known duo of Indian Classical Music from Banaras, have acquired honorary citizen representation of Baltimore city of America to their exceptional contribution to the field of music. In this regard they are been conferred with Alva’s Virasat 2018 award which comprises Rs.1 lakh cash and certificate.

As part of Musical retreat- on the First Day (12.01.2018), starts with ceremonial welcome to the artists followed by Sangeetha rasasanje by KK and Team, Mumbai. Devaranamas by sooryagayathri and team, Kerala; On Second day: Sumadhura sangeetha by Shankar Mahadevan –Ehsaan-Loy and Siddharth Mahadevan and team , Mumbai. Followed by Mrudanga Tharanga by B S Ananda, Pannaga Sharma, Krishna Pavan kumar, Sumukha Karanth assisted by violinists Dhanashri Shabaraya and Master Sumedh; Prathibimba Kathak Dance by Upasana centre for Dance , Kolkatta. Karavali Vaibhava Dance performance by Nrithya Vasantha Natyalaya, Kundapura.

On 14th January 2018 cultural evening will start with Chithra Sangeetha by Kailash Kher and his team, Mumbai. Followed by Magic of Mandoline by Master Sadgun Aithal and his team.

Dance feast:

12th; Sanathana Raashtra Mithra performance by Sanathana Natyalaya, Mangalore. Followed by Dhaffmuttu from Muthirikkas Kottapuram and Team, Kerala.

14th January; Gatha Odissi by Orissa Dance Academy Orissa and Nrithya Vaibhava by Nrithya Nikethana Kodagooru. Alva’s students will exhibit their cultural talents for these three days from 10:00 pm

Alva’s Varna Virasat:

National level Painting camp for contemporary artists and exhibition of rare paintings will be held from 9th to 14th January. Interested can watch artists in action from 9:00am to 9:00pm at Alva’s Nudisiri Vedike.

Varna Virasat Award-2018 for Shobha Bruta:

Smt Shobha Bruta is one of the pioneers of Indian painting artists. Born in 1943 in Delhi. She pursued graduation in classical Music in the year 1962 and Diploma in fine arts from Delhi Arts College in 1964. Her paintings have secured place in national and international galleries. Regarding her exceptional contribution to the field of painting she will be honored with Varna Virasat Award-2018 which comprises Rs.25,000 and a certificate.

Glory of lamp decoration and food stalls. The 3 days will be manifested with pleasing lamp decorations and wholesome and mouth watering cuisine with plentiful varieties

The food stalls will be separate for men and women. Huge Parking Space and Free Transportation service. The parking space is sufficiently allotted for about 40,000 visitors and free bus facility will be provided from Moodubidre City to Putthige.
