29-year-old Badami Man held for Rape and Murder of Girl
Udupi: The Manipal Police arrested a person in connection with the rape and murder of a girl at Moodusagri, Manipal.
The arrested has been identified as migrant worker Hanumanthappa (29) native of Badami who is presently residing in Kaup.
The Victim, a native of Badami and presently residing in Nittur was working in a Shop at Kalsanka near Sri Krishna Temple. On March 9 at around 2:45 pm the victim had gone missing from her shop. The victim’s family members searched everywhere and later filed a missing person’s complaint at the Women’s Police Station on Sunday, March 10.
On March 10 evening a passerby had noticed the body lying on the ground in Moodusagri and alerted the police.
As per the police sources, Hanumanthappa had befriended the victim and took her to the forest area near Moodusagri and raped her. When she threatened him of complaining to her parents he strangled her.
Manipal Police are investigating the case.
