3 Ganja Peddlers including woman Arrested
Mangaluru: The Bantwal police arrested three persons in connection with peddling Ganja at Dharmasthala here on May 23.
The arrested have been identified as Chandrakumar alias Kumar, Shanthakumar and Tamil Selvi from Gudalur, Nelagiri District Tamil Nadu.
According to the police on May 23, three persons were travelling from Madurai to Udupi district carrying Ganja. On getting reliable information the Bantwal DySP Ravish C R, DCIB inspector Amanullah and team reached Dharmasthala. There were 3 persons including a woman waiting at the main entrance of the KSRTC Bus stand Dharmasthala with bags. The police team took all the three into custody and seized the bags.
During the investigation, the arrested revealed that they bought ganja from Vijayawada and were transporting it to Karkala.
The police have also seized three mobiles, Rs 1100 cash and 20 Kgs of ganja (2kgs X10 packets) all worth Rs 4 lakh from their possession.
Under the able guidance of SP Bhushan and Additional SP Dr Vedamurthy the operation was carried out by DySP Ravish, DCIB inspector Amanullah, PSI Rama Naik, Koragappa, Taranath, Lakshman, Palanivelu, Uday Rai, Sanjeev Purush, Iqbal, Vasu, Vijaya Gowda, Sitharam Gowda, Sathyaprakash and Vishwanath Nayak. SP Bhushan announced a reward for the team.
