38-year-old Bus Conductor Hacked to Death in Perdoor
Udupi: A 38-year-old bus conductor was hacked to death by two unidentified persons at Perdoor under the Hiriyadka Police Station limits on Friday, July 12.
The deceased has been identified as Prashanth Poojary (38) a resident of Perdoor.
According to SP Nisha James, two men had visited Prashanth Poojary’s house at midnight. The victim stepped out of the house and begun arguing with them over a financial issue. As the argument turned bitter, the miscreants locked up his wife and children in another room and attacked Poojary with a sickle, she said.
Though his wife Vijaya had screamed for help and even attempted contacting neighbours over the phone. An hour later, her relatives reached her house and saw Poojary’s body lying in a pool of blood.
Nisha James said the accused had left behind their motorcycle as it had developed some technical snags.
She said Brahmavara circle police inspector Srikanth was entrusted with the investigation.
Udupi SP Nisha James, Additional SP Kumarchandra, DySP Jaishanker and other officials visited the spot.
Prashanth Poojary is survived by wife Vijaya, daughter Anjali and Son Nandan.
A case has been registered in the Hiriyadka Police Station.
