4-year-old Leopard Trapped at Thekkatte
Kundapur: A 4-year-old female leopard was trapped in a cage near Maladi of Thekkatte on Saturday, August 4.
The Villagers informed the Forest officials when they found a leopard in a plantation area at Maladi last week. A cage was set up in the area on Thursday after the Forest Department received complaints from the people of the surrounding area. A dog placed in a partitioned portion of the cage to lure the leopard. On Saturday morning, villagers noticed the leopard trapped in the cage and was struggling to get out of it.
The locals then informed the forest officials who immediately reached the spot and took the leopard.
The leopard is said to be around 3-4-year-old. It has sustained bruises while trying to escape from the cage. The leopard was later released into the reserve forest.
