5 Days Flood Relief Medical Camp by Fr Muller Docs/Paediatrics in Kodagu Dist

With their Institution’s motto ” Comfort and Heal” a bevy of Father Muller Hospital Doctors and Paediatrics are on a mission, who will conduct a 5-days Flood Relief Medical Camp from 27 August to 31 August 2018 in the flood-affected Kodagu district

Mangaluru: Kerala is not the only state reeling in the aftermath of unprecedented rains, as flood waters recede, Karnataka’s Kodagu district has also fast become the focus of rescue and relief work. Two Mi-17 helicopters of Training Command, IAF continue to fly towards flood relief operations in Kodagu region operating from Kushalnagar, Periapatna and Harangi. Airforce and NDRF teams are working in close coordination to airlift essential relief supplies to affected areas. Relief camps are providing food and water to victims even as every means is being used to transport relief materials. Even medicines and medical care are being provided

Work is underway on a war footing to clear the route for traffic. Over a dozen deaths have been reported from this area while thousands have been rendered homeless. 3,500 have been rescued from Kodagu itself. The state govt has said the situation is under control and reconstruction and rehabilitation work will be taken up successfully. But with a respite from the rain, since a couple of days, the Kodagu district out of 718 schools 657 have reopened after a period of around two weeks. But it is learnt that many people due to the floods and cold weather have developed various sicknesses- so in order to help these victims, the Good Samaritans of Father Muller Medical College Hospital have decided to hold a Flood Relief Medical camp, where they will be assisting other doctors/nurses/healthcare staff in Kodagu.

The Five days “Flood Relief Medical Camp” is organized at Kodagu Dist. from 27 Aug to 31 Aug 2108. The Health Camp team comprising of doctors from the departments of Medicine and Paediatrics will conduct the camp. The Health Camp members comprise of Dr Ganesh Prabhu, and Dr Manjunath A {Staff}; Dr Anto Stany {PG}, and Dr Marshal David {Intern}. Among the Paediatrics helping in the camp are Dr Dipthi Castelino {Staff}; Dr Chiranth and Dr Chandan {PG’s}; Dr Princy and Dr Suma {Interns}. David Sequeira, the PRO will be the Liason Officer for the Health Camp. A Father Muller College bus left the FMCI campus at 4 pm to Kodagu, with all the camp team members, where they will camp there for the next five days.

Blessing all the Camp team members with Holy Water, Fr Ajith Menezes- Administrator of Father Muller Medical College said, ” Quoting Saint Mother Teresa “We can do no great things – only small things with great love”- these volunteers of our Institution with our institution Motto ‘Comfort and Heal’ will be doing a great job assisting other healthcare specialists in Kodagu district. On the request of the DC of Kodagu District, we readily agreed to send out a dedicated and committed team. A few days ago another batch of our volunteers had been to Kerala with medical supplies, food and other relief items, and they have come back thereby making a big difference in the lives of the flood-affected Keralites. Similarly, I am sure this team also will put miles of smiles on the face of the Kodagu people with their care, love and service. may God bless you all, have a safe journey and pleasant stay in Kodagu”.
