Padukere beach to be Udupi’s next tourism destination – Pramod Madhwaraj

Udupi: Padukere beach will be developed to promote tourism activities to facilitate tourists said Minister for Sports, Youth Affairs and Minister in-charge District Pramod Madhwaraj. He was speaking to media persons during his visit to Padukere beach to formulate a plan to develop Padukere beach here on March 26.

Padukere beach is a virgin beach which is not explored till now. The promotion of tourism activities will also generate revenue in this part. A road will be constructed to the beach connecting to the Malpe-Padukere Bridge. The Malpe Beach Development Committee will look into the affairs of the Padukere beach. The changing rooms, showers, toilets and basic amenities will be constructed to attract tourists.

Home stays are playing prominent role in attracting tourists. The locals who reside here can build homestays and rent them to the tourists which can generate more revenue. The youth of Padukere have extended their cooperation for developing the Padukere beach.

Rs 1 crore will be sanctioned for the development of Padukere bridge and Minister for Tourism Priyank Kharge will be consulted for releasing more funds.Padukere beach is also surrounded by tiny islands which will be a boon for promoting tourism in this part.

Malpe beach is generating Rs 1 crore revenue annually, the credit goes to Dr. R. Vishal the former deputy commissioner in playing a vital role in boosting tourism activities in Malpe. The beach cleaning machine is also introduced in Maple, he added.

Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis, CMC President Meenakshi Madhav Bannaje, CMC Member Ramesh Kanchan, Janardhan Bhandarkar, Umesh Naik, Block Congress President Satish Amin Padukere and others were present.

  1. While it is a good thought to develop Tourism
    utilizing the Malpe Beach and the Padukere Beach,
    it is very vital for Mr. Pramod Madhwaraj to take
    a walk on the road leading from Udupi Bi-Pass to
    Malpe. For ages nothing is being done to widen
    or improve this main road – except for big talks
    on development and Tourism. Besides the area
    from Malpe to Vadamandeshwar stinks of rotten
    fish due to Coronet Fish Canning factory – spoiling
    the environment. Nothing is being done to stop
    this bad odour by anyone.
