56-year-old Teacher Dies in Tragic Road Accident at Kadri

Mangaluru: A 56-year-old Teacher died in a tragic road accident at Kadri Kambla here on December 1.

The deceased has been identified as Shailaja Rao (56) from Kadri Kambla. Shailaja was teaching in the Kendriya Vidyalaya Panambur.

According to the police on December 1, a medium truck was moving from Bharat Beedi Junction towards Kadri Kambla at high speed. When the truck reached near Kadri Kambla junction an auto was turning right towards Pio Mall. Seeing the auto, the driver of the truck tried to avoid hitting hit and swerved towards the right and crashed into the oncoming auto. As the Auto was dragged to about 40 meters the woman passenger was thrown out from the auto and was severely injured in the head. The driver of the auto was also injured as he too was thrown out to the road.

Both the injured were rushed to the hospital but Shailaja succumbed to injuries without responding to treatment. The auto was totally damaged. Negligence and rash driving of the truck driver was the main cause of the accident. CCTV in the area has recorded the accident from three angles.

A case has been registered in Traffic East Police Station.

  1. The driver of the truck should be charged for murder. It is clear that it is not an accident but total disregard for the safety and he knew the danger to others and still did it.

  2. This incident happened yesterday right in front of my home, still can’t forget a single sight of it. That ******* truck driver was rash driving and should be charged for the vehicular manslaughter.
