Abu Dhabi: Goan community rocks at Viva Goa, Viva Carnival filled with cultural extravaganza

Abu Dhabi: The Goan community celebrated Viva-Goa Viva Carnival filled with cultural extravaganza, music, band, dance and singing that entertained and mesmerized the entire audience from the start to end. The pomp arrival of King Momo with his entourage was a sight to watch which was the main highlight of the Carnival Celebrations. La Vida Goan band along with singers DJ Moses, Darin Fernandes, Zarine, Ivor D’Cunha, Lavita, Tavia, Dreferd, Edlin and Lloyd Dias on the drums provided total entertainment and dance beats for the audience to enjoy throughout the day with their Carnival theme songs and best of the oldies of Goa and Mangalorean songs with enthralled the young and old through-out the day. To add to the celebrations there were all Goan tasty, delicacies on the counter to be savoured whole day.

The total entertainment package began around 1:30 pm on Friday 13 Feb 2105 at the pool side of Le Meridian Hotel Abu Dhabi with the MCs of the day or so called Mood Setters: Avito Carvalho, Conrad Caeiro and Joaquim D’Souza welcoming the gathering and announcing the items on the entertainment package that would be unleashed during the entire session. The Mexican traditionally dressed Conrad welcomed the gathering in Spanish and quickly adjusted to Konkani and English to convey his Carnival Message to the konkani community of Goa.

The fun filled day began with best of the oldies by La Vida Goan band and people joined in dancing to the beautiful melodious numbers. Ivor D’Cunha set the tempo moving with the theme song: Viva Goa followed by many Goan numbers and joined by all singers on stage. The floor below filled with all the couple dancing to the wonderful traditional songs.

The highlight of the day was the pompous arrival of King Momo (Avito Carvallo) with his entourage of little kids finely decorated with face painting and members of the troupe with colourful costumes and traditional dresses filled the air with joy, fun and excitement all around. King Momo on arrival on the stage delivered his message of love, peace and harmony and wished all the members a wonderful Carnival Festival and joy to the families here and back in Goa.

There loads of entertainment games held in between by MCs of the day Joachim and Conrad giving away best gifts of airline tickets courtesy Air India and Oman Air. Nolasco de Abreu the host of the day and organizer of the entire event distributed the prizes to the winners. There was also a grand prize for the best dressed person (Male & Female) and the winners were lucky to get the airline tickets.

Children enjoyed the Bouncy Castle and face painting and various fun filled games while the adults kept themselves busy on the floor dancing.

Nolasco de Abrau delivered the vote of thanks, he thanked each and everyone who participated in the Viva-Goa-Viva Carnival, the management of Le-Meridian Hotel, the organizers, the committee, band, singers and the media representatives.

The final session of fast music with fast dances and a few wonderful Valentines Day special numbers played out by La Vida Goan band and troupes which had the couples clinging together and expressing their love to their partners dancing through the beautiful slow numbers.

The curtains came down around 7:00 pm having the entire community fun-filled day with loads of unending entertainment.
