Albert Rego’s Body Exhumed Two Months After Burial Amid Suspicion
Mangaluru: Police have exhumed the body of Albert Rego, nearly two months after his death, for a post-mortem examination following a complaint by his close friends, who raised suspicions about the circumstances surrounding his death.
Albert Rego, a resident of Kottara First Cross in Mangaluru, died on July 19, 2026. His funeral rites were conducted at Derebail Church, by his daughter, who lived with him.
Suspecting foul play, Albert’s close friends lodged a complaint at Urwa Police Station. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case and initiated a fresh investigation.
The body was exhumed from the cemetery of Derebail Church in the presence of the tahsildar and experts from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for a post-mortem examination and forensic analysis.
The cause of death is expected to be established following the post-mortem examination and analysis of the forensic findings. Police have intensified their investigation into the case.
