Alert Society can control Crimes – SP Dr Sanjeev M Patil

Udupi: “Alert society can control many crimes, people can visit the police stations without any fear to file complaints”, said Dr Sanjeev Patil speaking after inaugurating the Crime prevention Month organised by the district Police in association with JCI Kaup, MET Public School, Rotary and Lions Club at the Jagannatha Sabha Bhavana Udupi here on Monday, December 11.

The public has a greater role in the prevention of crime by being vigilant and informing the police about the crimes and criminal activities taking place in their area. The public has the responsibility to inform the police about suspicious movement of persons.

Every year in the month of December the police department is organizing the Crime Prevention month in every police station. School children are invited to the local police stations to create awareness about the police department.

In view of the rising crime-related incidents, Installing CCTV cameras in every school is made compulsory. Teachers should take the problems of the students seriously and whenever necessary should immediately inform the police department. cooperating with the police department will help in preventing crimes, he added.

While interacting with the students SP Patil instructed the students to dial 100 if they notice any unusual activities. He requested the students to inform the police department immediately if they face any problems like raging, harassment in class, or through phone, selling drugs and narcotic items etc which will be addressed immediately.

Indrali Jayakar Shetty manager of Badagabettu Co-op society, Additional SP Kumarchandra, Rotary president Dasharath Singh, Lions Club president Divakar Shetty DySP Kumar Swami, Haji Abdulla Parkala, Khaleel Ahamed and others were present.
