All India Inter University Ball Badminton Tourney for Men at Alva’s College from January 29
Moodbidri : : Mangalore University along with Alva’s college Moodubidire will conduct an All India Inter University Ball Badminton Tournament for men at Alva’s Vidyagiri Campus from January 29 to February 02.
Around 88 university teams will be participating in the championship which will be held under the guidance of Indian Association of Universities. The competition for the Charminar Cup will be in knockout mode, with the semifinals in league mode. Mangalore University is conducting this Championship for the 5th time, in which 2001-02 and 2015-16 meets were held at Mangalore University campus and Alva’s college hosted 2007-08 and 2009-10 tournaments.
The hosting university holds pride in both Men & Women championships, where men and women team entered league stage for 7 and 17 times respectively. While dominance in winning the championship tally stands with two and ten times respectively. For the first time in history of All India Inter University Ball badminton meet, an indoor stadium is set to be held in the matted courtyard of an artificial grass bed under the floodlight. The sophisticated indoor mat court was built to give a new touch to the domestic and rural sport of ball badminton.
Inauguration ceremony will be held on 29 morning, Mangalore University Vice-Chancellor, Prof P Subaramanya Yadapaditaya, will preside over inauguration ceremony and Eklavya Awardee M S Puttaraju will inaugurate the tournament. MLA Umanath A Kotyan and former minister K Abhayachandra Jain will be present in program. The valedictory ceremony will be held under the president ship of Mangalore University Registrar, Dr A M Khan, MLA Umanath Kotyan will distribute the prizes. BBIF Secretary, Dinesh, and Moodubidire Inspector Dinesh Kumar BS, will be the guests.
