Alva’s MBA Department to hold Workshop on Ease of Doing Business in India and Karnataka

Moodbidri: AOoe day national workshop on “Ease of Doing Business in India and Karnataka” will be organized by the MBA Department of Alva’s Engineering College, Moodbidri on April 4, 2018.

The theme chosen for the workshop “Ease of Doing Business in India and Karnataka” has a lot of contemporary relevance. The convener of the workshop is Dr G V Joshi, Professor in Alva’s MBA Department; former member of the Karnataka State Planning Board, Dr Nagendra S and Prof Gurudatt Somayaji, faculty members will be the co-conveners.

The flagship report of the World Bank Group on Ease of Doing Business for 2018 brings out that improvement in the regulatory environment for business would be leading to lower levels of unemployment and poverty. Therefore, the workshop at Moodbidri will have a significant policy impact, particularly because it will take a comparative view of India and Karnataka. Besides, it will also bring to the fore the need for making a study of the regulatory environment of business at the district level.

There will be separate sessions on Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts in the workshop. There will also be a combination of experts in various fields in the workshop. The Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Udupi Chamber of Commerce and Industry will be actively involved in the deliberations.

The workshop will be inaugurated by Dr Niranjan N Chiplunkar, Principal, NMAMIT Nitte. Principal Dr Peter Fernandes of AIET Mijar and Ramananda Nayak, Joint Director of Industries and Commerce, DIC Udupi will be guests of honour. Vivek Alva, Managing Trustee, Alva’s Education Foundation will preside over the inaugural session.

The valedictory address will be delivered by G Giridhar Prabhu, former president, KCCI Mangalore. Krishna Rao Kodancha, President of Udupi Chamber will preside over the valedictory session.

In the technical sessions, Dr T Mallikarjunappa of Mangalore University, Dr Prakash Pinto of SJEC Vamanjur, Dr M R Shollapur of Siddaganga Institute of Management, Tumkur, Dr R K Sharma of JKSHIM- Nitte, M Nagesh Pai of Pai Cell Sales Pvt Ltd, Dr G V Joshi of AIET-Moodbidri, Dr N S Shetty of JKSHIM-Nitte and Prof P Ramakrishna Chadaga of AIET- Moodbidri will participate in different capacities.
