Andhra Pradesh Native Murdered in Malpe; Accused Arrested

Udupi: Malpe police solved the murder of a man stabbed in the neck in an open space near Babuthota fishing harbour in Malpe. The accused was arrested on the outskirts of Hubballi.

The accused has been identified as Arogya Das alias Kami, 55, a native of Hubballi.

The deceased, Paramshi alias Param Veli, approximately 55, a native of Andhra Pradesh, had been staying in an open space beside Malpe Marine Agencies for the past three years. He reportedly earned his livelihood by collecting scrap materials in the harbour area and slept on a plastic sack beside the agency.

On September 28, at around 7 p.m., the owner of the agency locked the premises and left. When he returned at around 8:30 a.m. the following day, he found Paramshi alias Param Veli lying in a pool of blood on the sack. Blood was flowing from his neck, and it was later found that someone had stabbed him to death.

A case was registered at Malpe Police Station in connection with the murder.

Under the guidance of Udupi Sub-Division Deputy Superintendent of Police K. U. Belliyappa and Malpe Circle Inspector Ramachandra Nayak, a police team led by Malpe Police Station Sub-Inspector Anil Kumar D., along with Head Constables Vishwanath and Adarsh and Constable Kubera, conducted an operation and arrested the accused on the outskirts of Hubballi.
