Annual Feast of St Zuze Vaz shrine, Mudipu Begins

Mangaluru: The Mudipu hill which is brightened with lights, adorned with decorations, flocked with thousands of people irrespective of any differences witnessed the beginning of the annual feast of St Joseph Vaz Shrine on November 28, 2019. The solemn feast was celebrated here starting on Nov 28 to December 01.

The solemn Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Most Dr Pius Thomas D’Souza, the Bishop of Ajmir at 5:30 pm amidst a good number of people. In his homily, the bishop reflected on the theme “St Joseph Vaz inspiration for witnessing life”. He gave a call to imbibe the missionary zeal that St Joseph Vaz had right from his childhood. The strength that he drew from his prayer life made him a faithful proclaimer of God’s Word. As this day was dedicated to the sick and suffering, special prayers were offered for them. Fr Benjamin Pinto, the Rector of St Joseph Vaz Shrine thanked all those who have toiled in view of the shrine feast. Fr Lawrence D’Souza, Fr Lawrence Mascarenhas, Fr Michael D’Souza were present. Roshan D’Souza, Vice President of Parish Pastoral Parishad and Marcel D’Souza, Secretary PPP honoured the Bishop. Finally, everyone was anointed with the holy oil.

On 29th Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, the bishop emeritus presided over the Eucharist at 10:30 am and prayed for the well being of all.

The Shrine at the hilltop in Mudipu also known as a miraculous hill or holy mountain where a miracle of St Joseph Vaz can be witnessed even today is flocked by devotees.
