App based taxis and Online sellers to come under Government – Khader

Mangaluru: The minister for Food and Civil Supplies U T Khader held a press meet at the Eden Club here on September 12. Addressing the mediapersons Khader said that to strengthen the rights of the consumers as well as the vendors, we have taken measures to bring App based taxis, direct marketing, and the Online sellers, under the government control. So far, online vendors and App based taxis did not come under the government control.

Khader further said, in Mangaluru since there are a number of App taxis which do not follow government norms passengers will be cheated. To avoid problems and to bring uniformity, the government has decided to bring app based taxis under its control.

Even online buyers can be cheated with the poor quality of goods, and since buyers do not get justice, to avoid such situations, we have decided to bring the online vendors under the control of the government. We will frame the rules and streamline online agencies.

Government weighing machines

In the first phase, the government will install, 450 weighing machines outside the supermarkets and hypermarkets. The rest will in installed in the second phase.

When asked about the Cauvery water problem, Khader said that through violence we will not achieve anything. We cannot go against the direction of the Supreme Court. We are all Indians and we are one, we as Indians should join hands to solve the water crisis. The government has followed the order of the Supreme court. The people of Tamil Nadu should understand the problems faced by the people of Karnataka. The state government has taken all measures to solve the water crisis for the benefit of the people and the farmers. The government has already submitted a new application to the Supreme court as there is no possibility to defy the direction of Supreme court. Yes, it is a painful situation for us Kannadigas but we cannot take the law into our hands. Khader further said that when the opposition was in power, the water problem had existed.

Ration Card

the ration card should be linked with Aadhar card, and the last date to link it with the Aadhar card is September 30. We will also distribute the ration coupons for three months. Later we will distribute the coupons for 6 months, once the system is streamlined, we will distribute food coupons for a year. At present 50% of the food coupons are distributed. In the state 35 lakh families get coupons out of which 17.5 lakh families have collected their coupons.
