Assault on Prashant Poojary Murder Accused in Moodbidri
Moodbidri: A youth was attacked by a group with machetes at Gantalkatte here on September 24.
Imtiyaz (32) from Gantalkatte was assaulted by the group.
According to police Imtiyaz was involved in the Prashant Poojary murder case in 2015.
According to police, Imtiyaz was running a small canteen at the Gantalkatte Mosque building. On September 24, as usual, Imtiyaz was in the hotel and a group of 8 persons came to the canteen and asked for tea. When he went inside to bring tea, the group assaulted Imtiyaz with machetes on the head, hand and back. Imtiyaz somehow managed to escape from them running from the back door into a neighbouring house.
Severely injured Imtiyaz was rushed to the hospital in Mangaluru and is being shifted to the intensive care Unit. During the assault, another person who was present in the canteen tried to intervene but was also assaulted by the group. He too has been shifted to the hospital in Moodbidri.
