Assembly polls: Total 34 candidates in Fray in Udupi District – DC Priyanka Mary 
Udupi: As many as 34 candidates, including BJP, Congress and JD(S) left are in fray at the close of withdrawal of nominations on Friday said deputy commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis. She was addressing the press meet at the DC office on April 27.
After scrutiny, a total of 43 nominations were accepted out of which 5 nominees withdrew and four have been rejected.
The remaining candidates in fray in Udupi Assembly Constituency are: Pramod Madhwaraj (Congress), K. Raghupati Bhat (Bharatiya Janata Party), Gangadhar Birti (Janata Dal (Secular)), Shekhar Havanje (Republican Party of India), Y S Vishwanath (All India Mahila Empowerment Party), Mahesha, Ramesh Markala and Sudheer Kanchan, Independent candidates.
The candidates in the fray for Byndoor constituency are: K. Gopal Poojary (Congress), B.M. Sukumar Shetty (BJP), C. Ravindra (JD S), Suresh Kallagar (Communist Party of India – Marxist), Abdul Hajeed ( All India Mahila Empowerment Party), Manjunath K, Marakala Manjunath Basava, Subrahmanya B., and H. Suresh Poojary, Independent candidates.
In the fray for Kundapur are: Rakesh Malli (Congress), Halady Srinivas Shetty (the BJP), Thekkatte Prakash Shetty (JD-S), Rajiv Kotian (Janata Dal-United), Sudhakara Soorgoli (RPI-A).
The candidates in fray for Karkala are: H Gopal Bhandary (Congress), V Sunil Kumar (the BJP), Uday Kumar (Bahujan Samaj Party) Maksood Ahmed (the All India Mahila Empowerment Party), Abdul Azeez, Ashraf Ali, Mohammed Shareef, and Sumantha K. Poojary, Independent candidates.
The candidates in the fray for Kaup are Vinay Kumar Sorake (Congress), Lalaji R Mendon (BJP) Mohammed (JDS).
The Election Commission has seized Rs 92.82 lakh cash and Rs 52 lakh worth liquor from the date of announcement of model code of conduct till Thursday. Meanwhile, 27 cases of the violation of model code of conduct have been booked, she said.
