Associations Submit Memorandum Demanding Hike in Salaries of Police

Udupi: Urging for the fulfillment of various demands of the police personnel, members of the Karnataka Karmika Vedike, Karnataka Rakshana and other associations staged a peaceful demonstration in front of the district administration complex, Rajathadri here, on June 4.

Retired police constable Sandeep Kumar M said that the government needs to effectively address the demands of the police personnel. The government should hike the salaries of the police. The pay hike should be that of the central government pay scale. Allowances should be revised, 50% recruitment for PSI and RSI should from within the department. The police quarters should be well maintained, maternity leave should be extended to 9 months. The police who have served in KSRP and DAR for 5 years should be appointed for civil service after 5 years, he said.

Ration facilities should be extended to retired police personnel. The quality of the food items given should be maintained. Risk allowance should be given to the police personnel, added Sandeep.
