Awaiting BCCI directives on pink-ball cricket: Ganguly

Kolkata, June 16 (IANS) Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) President and former India captain Sourav Ganguly on Thursday said they would wait to see what directives the regional governing body gets from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding pink-ball cricket.

Reportedly, New Zealand who were to play the first ever day-night Test with pink ball in India have backed off saying they are not comfortable playing in Indian conditions.

A top CAB official also confirmed that Eden Gardens was in the reckoning to host the game but now the proposal was uncertain.

Asked about New Zealand backing off from playing a pink-ball Test, Ganguly said, “I don’t know. I haven’t heard this. They have accepted to play pink-ball Test in Adelaide. Now we have to wait and see what directives we get from the BCCI.”

“As you have already heard, it is happening everywhere. It happened in Australia, in New Zealand and only a matter of time before it happens in India,” the southpaw added.
