Bajpe Police Inspector Caught by Lokayukta While Accepting Bribe
Mangaluru: In a significant anti-corruption action, Bajpe Police Station Inspector Balakrishna was caught red-handed by Lokayukta officials while allegedly accepting a bribe linked to the release of money seized in a cheating case.
According to reports, the inspector allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 25,000 in exchange for releasing the seized amount belonging to the accused persons. Acting on a complaint, Lokayukta officials verified the allegations, laid a trap, and conducted a raid.
During the operation, Inspector Balakrishna was caught receiving Rs 5,000 as the first installment of the demanded bribe. Officials immediately detained him and initiated legal procedures.
The Lokayukta has begun a detailed investigation to ascertain the full circumstances surrounding the demand. Authorities are expected to examine all relevant records and statements as part of the probe.
