Bajrang Dal & VHP Protest against Illegal Cattle Transport & Stalls Selling Adulterated Meat

Mangaluru : Following on their statement made during the press meet held on 5 October where addressing the media persons Sharan Pumpwell-the Vishwa Hindu Parishad Regional secretary had said, “We are giving a stern warning to the District Administration authorities that if they don’t take quick action against the increasing illegal cattle trafficking that is presently going on, Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal will start protesting on the streets until such illegal activities are completely stopped. We also warn that the District Administration would be held liable for any untoward incidents which may occur during the protests. In spite of increasing illegal cow trafficking that is going on the district administration officials and also the police have turned a blind eye towards it”- and therefore today, Tuesday 20 October activists of Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad protested on the street demanding action against illegal transportation of beef and cattle, and also against meat stalls selling mutton mixed with beef.

Sharan Pumpwell addressing the protesters said, “It is learnt that several cases of illegal cattle trafficking have been filed in various police station limits, but the cops have failed to take any action against the culprits. If tempos or mini trucks were used earlier to carry on this illegal trade, now cars, SUV’s and minivans are being used to transport the cows illegally to slaughter houses in Dakshina Kannada and Kudroli in Mangaluru. A mega network of illegal cow trafficking mafia is behind this illegal trade. VHP and Bajrang Dal urges the law enforcement department to form a special squad to stop the illegal trafficking of cows which is on the rise. And if the police nab the people behind this illegal trade, they should take severe action against them, including the culprits who were caught on 4 October transporting cows illegally, where six calves had fallen off from their vehicle during transportation to the slaughter house in Kudroli in the City. Even after our press meet held on 4 October, there have been two incidents of huge amount of beef being transported in milk van and fish truck”.

“Once again we warn that the District Administration that it would be held liable for any untoward incidents which may occur during the protests. In spite of increasing illegal cow trafficking that is going on, the district administration officials and also the police have turned a blind eye towards it. We will continue our protests and fight until all these illegal activities undertaken by the meat transporters, slaughter houses and meat stalls are stopped. While the illegal supply of beef doesn’t seem like stopping, our protests also wont stop until justice is served” added Sharan Pumpwell.

District Secretary of Bajrang Dal Shivanand Mendon, Bajrang Dal Regional Convenor Bhujanga Kulal, District Vice President Manohar Suvarna, Guruprasad Ullal and Pradeep Pumpwell, were among others present during the protest.
