BD and VHP to Hold Go-Satyagraha on Feb 26 to demanding Ban on Cow Slaughter

Mangaluru: “The Cow is holy for Hindus and in the olden days slaughtering of the cow was banned. Now the cows are being brutally slaughtered and transported in inhumane conditions. In order to stop the brutality towards cows, the Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad urges the government to put a ban on cow slaughter. In our country, more than 90% of the people want to ban cow slaughter. On February 26, the Bajrang Dal in association with VHP, HJV, Go-Parivar and other associations will hold a “Go-Satyagraha” at the Nehru Maidan from 10 a.m to 4 pm”, said the district Gorakshak Pramukh Dinesh Pai Kateel in a press meet held at the VHP office, Kadri here on February 22.

Addressing the mediapersons Dinesh Pai said, “In the BJP election manifesto 2014, it was mentioned that Necessary legal framework will be created to protect and promote the cow and its progeny. Through the Go-Satyagraha we request the central government to ban cow slaughter. Every day hundreds of cows are being slaughtered if such a situation continues cows will vanish from our country. Those slaughtering and trafficking cows should be severely punished.”

Dinesh Pai also said, “On February 26, Swamijis from various Maths, locals and the public will gather in large numbers and demand the government to ban the slaughter of cows in the country. Those slaughtering cows should be punished with a 7-year jail term and Rs 1 lakh penalty., and those involved in the trafficking of cows and also in transporting them in inhuman conditions should be punished with a 5-year jail and Rs 50,000 penalty per cow. The vehicle used for cow trafficking should also be seized. The cows that cannot produce milk should be given pension”, said Dinesh.

When questioned on, after the BJP coming to power the export of beef being doubled, Dinesh said, “The beef which is exported is Buffaloe meat, but we have already written a letter to the Finance minister for a complete ban on exporting beef. The profit for India from the Beef export is only Ras 30,000 crore, But we import diamond and other imitation jewellery worth Rs 3.6 lakh crore. We demand both the import and export to be banned.”

District VHP president Jagadish Shenava, Sharan Pumpwell, Bhujang Kulal and others were also present.
