Bengaluru: Centum glory magnifies feats of topper girls

Bengaluru: (DHNS): The II PUC results this year has brought much cheer topers mto colleges in Bengaluru. For, the toppers in all three streams – Commerce, Arts and Science – are from the city.

Gowthami P, of MES PU College of Arts, Commerce and Science, is the topper in the Science stream with a total of 595 marks out of 600. Veena S Reddy from Sri Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain PU College who secured 98.83 percentage topped in Commerce and Hitankshi M Trivedi, from Mount Carmel College topped the Arts stream by securing 96.5 percentage.

All three have scored a centum in most of the subjects. Speaking to Deccan Herald, Gowthami, who aspires to be a doctor, said, “I am very happy. I expected to do well, but I did not think I would top”. She scored 100 in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, while she secured 99 in Biology and 97 in Kannada. She studied for 12 to 16 hours every day to achieve this feat.

“Apart from studying daily, I concentrated well in my tuition classes,” she said. The student’s father works in a private company and her mother is a homemaker.

It’s a 100 upon 100 all the way for Veena S Reddy, too. She has scored centum in three subjects: Accountancy, Statistics and Basic Maths and 99 in Business Studies. The student has also scored 100 in Sanskrit and 94 in English.

“I expected 595, instead of 593, but I am really happy with my marks”. Her father Jaganath Reddy is a chartered accountant by profession and mother Lakshmi Devi is a homemaker. Expressing her joy, her mother said she expected Veena to secure a rank, but did not imagine that she would top the State.

Veena wants to be a lawyer. “I started my preparations three months prior to the exams and took my college preparatory exams seriously. I have got a seat for law at Christ University, but I am waiting for my CLAT results, after which I will decide my next step”.

Concentrating in the class helped Hitankshi achieve the high score. She aims to make it to the civil services as an IAS officer.

“This feels out of this world,” said an ecstatic Hitankshi. Her father Mayank Trivedi is a government official and mother Nita Trivedi is a homemaker. Hitankshi has scored a centum in Economics and Psychology. She has secured 99 in History, 92 in Sociology, 90 in English and 98 in French.
