BJP a Broken House, Mangaluru Chalo Rally a flop – Ivan D’Souza

Mangaluru: “The BJP government has failed to deliver any development programmes to the people of the country. The petrol and diesel prices have increased. The price for the gas cylinder has also increased. The GDP has nose dived. By organizing the Mangaluru Chalo rally, BJP has challenged democracy. BJP was expecting one lakh people for the rally but failed to gather 5000 people, it was a flop show,” said chief whip Ivan D’Souza in a pressmeet held at his chamber here on September 9.

Addressing the media persons Ivan said, “C-fore, conducted the pre-poll survey in Karnataka between July 19 and August 1, 2017. Systematic random sampling methodology was used in selecting respondents for the survey. In all 24679 voters were interviewed from 165 assembly constituencies covering all districts using a structured questionnaire. These respondents were spread across 340 Urban and 500 Rural locations in the state. Care was taken to ensure that different caste and communities were represented in the sample in their proportion. The survey has a margin of error ofc1 percentage points at 95 percent confidence level. C fore prediction for 2008 and 2013 assembly elections in Karnataka have been 99% accurate. According to ‘C fore”, in the forthcoming elections, the expected seats for Congress are 120 to 132, BJP will get 60 -72 seats, JD (S) 24-30 and 1-6 others.”

Ivan further said, “According to the COPS survey, in the next elections the BJP will make a clean sweep in the Coastal districts, Karnataka bordering Mumbai areas and Karnataka regions bordering Hyderabad. The COPS survey has predicted that BJP will win 113 seats, Congress 86 and JD(S) 25. The COPS survey being BJP sponsored, their prediction cannot be true. In the last elections in the coastal districts, the BJP has got only two seats. In the forthcoming elections let the BJP retain the two seats in Sullia and Karkala. This time we are sure to win all the seats in the Twin districts, Said Ivan.”

Ivan also said, “On September 7, the BJP Yuva Morcha had organized a rally to get publicity. BJP leaders were saying that they will gather one lakh people for the rally but they could not gather 5000 people. There was also a fight between the leaders taking part in the protest. From Mangaluru their own party workers did not attend the rally because people of Dakshina Kannada are fed-up with BJP. People have lost their faith in them because they have not done any development work. To satisfy the people, BJP has released the survey report which says that they will win the forthcoming elections with 113 seats which is far from the truth.”

“The behaviour of the MP with the cop on duty is not acceptable. a thorough investigation should be done in this case and strict action should be taken against MP Nalin Kumar Kateel”, said Ivan.
