BJP slams CM for being soft towards anti-national elements

Belagavi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary, Muralidhar Rao, on Saturday, took a dig at Siddaramaiah-led Congress government for adopting a soft stance towards the anti-national elements.

Speaking to reporters here, Rao, also in-charge of BJP affairs in Karnataka, said, “Because of the government’s failure to act tough against anti-national elements, the state has become a haven for such elements. The BJP has lost 14 of its workers in the state in the past four years of Congress rule.”

“Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is treating the BJP as his enemy and not terror forces,” he said adding that the BJP would make it a major issue during the Assembly election.

The celebration of Tipu Jayanti by the state goes to show that Siddaramaiah is anti-Hindu, he alleged.

To a query on BJP MLA Umesh Katti’s ‘haramkhor’ remark against the party leaders, Rao said, “Katti had scolded his own party leaders unlike Congress leaders who use unparliamentary words against other party leaders.”

He, however, said that disciplinary action would be taken against the party workers or leaders who speak ill of leaders or party that would damage the interests of the party.

Rao added that he would comment after speaking with Katti.

Replying to a query on the BJP’s stance on Lingayat-Veerashaiv issue, Rao said that the party has not issued any directions to its leaders on the Lingayat issue.
