BJP Spokesperson Says Congress Complicit in IMA Jewelry Scam, Demands Resignation of Minister Zameer Ahmed
Mangaluru: “In our state, the way in which the government is functioning makes me sad. Even as the Congress party says that they love minorities and will protect minorities, such events are taking place. As you all know, since the past eight years, there has been rampant corruption in the state of Karnataka. All of you are familiar with the latest news about IMA jewelers. IMA Jewelries is probably one of the most fraudulent companies that people have set their eyes upon. The fraud by that company is not happening now. It has been happening since before the 2018 elections”, said BJP Co-spokesperson Anwar Manipady in a press meet held at the BJP Office, Kodialbail here, on June 13.
Addressing the mediapersons Manipady said, “When Zameer Ahmed Khan was contesting from Chamrajpet, I was also in charge over there. At that time, I had criticized him for being associated with such a fraudulent man like Mansoor Khan. The enormity of this embezzlement cannot take place unless there is a back up by the government. Since one year I have been saying the same thing. Nine months ago, the ED and RBI sent a memo about this to the Minority Affairs Ministry of the state government. This was done because this man was looting all the deposits of the mosques. All his methods were so damn pragmatically seen by everybody, that they were irregularities everywhere. Still, the government never listened to anyone.”
Manipady also said, “Why didn’t the government act on this information? Zameer Ahmed Khan himself has accepted that he has taken 9 crore rupees from Mansoor Khan. Now, his explanations are changing. At first, he said that it was a donation and now he says that he sold the property to Mansoor. It is impossible for him not to be complicit in this crime. Nine crores is not a small amount. At every function, Mansoor was seen with Zameer Ahmed Khan.”
He further said, “We strongly demand the resignation of Zameer Ahmed Khan as a minister in the present government. We also demand a CBI inquiry into the matter. Since the beginning, the Congress party has always troubled the minorities in the name of minorities itself. We openly challenge the state government to show the work that they have done for the minority communities.”
In his statement to the press, Manipady had said that Mansoor Khan was seen in photographs with CM Kumaraswamy and Minister Zameer Ahmed. When asked about Nirav Modi’s photograph with Prime Minister Modi at Davos, he responded that the two matters were unrelated and that the Davos photographs were taken in “passing”.
Later, the BJP spokesperson also made tall claims of Mansoor Khan funding the ISI but failed to corroborate those claims.
Former BJP MLA Ramachandra Baikampady and former BJP councilor Bhaskar Chandra Shetty were also present.
