BJP to hold ‘Kamala Jatre’ at Katapadi from March 16 to 18 to woo voters

Udupi: The Bharatiya Janata Party has decided to organise a “Kamala Jatre”, an outreach programme to engage the electorate ahead of the Assembly polls, at Katapadi Junction from March 16 to 18 said Mattar Rathnakar Hegde district president of the BJP.

He was speaking at a press meet held at the district BJP office on Tuesday, March 13. The Jatre is to serve as a platform to spread Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s and the Karnataka BJP’s ‘developmental track’ record by involving in political engagement with the rural, local community for three days.

The Jatre will showcase the achievements of the NDA government and the BJP regime (2008-13) in the state through the exhibition centres. At the Kamala Jatre, a three-day event, the party will combine political engagement with the rural/local community. Games, food stalls, magic shows, laser show, kids zone with joyrides, an exhibition to showcase the achievements of the BJP, and a selfie booth will be put up. There is a counter for ‘Chai Pe Charcha’ where the visitors can discuss any matter of their interest over a cup of tea.

A laser show on the life and achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the state BJP president B S Yeddyurappa are added attractions. Magic show, humour session, cultural programmes and other entertainment shows will be organized during the three-day fair which will be open for public from 3 to 9 pm. Udupi Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje will inaugurate the Kamala Jatre on March 16 at 6 pm, he said.

MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary, ZP president Dinakar Babu, Vice-president Sheela K Shetty, former MLA Lalaji R Mendon and others were present.
