Udupi: Blood has no religion nor can be produced in any factory said Fr Denis D’sa parish priest of St Anne’s Church Thottam.
He was speaking after inaugurating the Mega Blood donation camp organized by Samanvya Sarvadharma Sauhardha Samithi Thottam in association with Sri Gajanana Yakshagana Kala Sangha, Thottam, Blood Bank Udupi district Hospital and various local organizations at Thottam on January 26.
Blood donation is a noble cause and more people should come forward to save lives by donating blood. To save mankind God has given only one colour to Blood. He said there is no harm to life by donating blood, but it helps improve our health.
The programme was presided by Shashidhar M Amin president of Sri Gajanana Yakshagana Kalasangha, Badanidiyoor. In his remarks, he said that after Fr Denis arrived at Thottam Church a new wave of Bandhunthava started. The Samanvya Sarvadharma Sauhardha Samithi Thottam will continue more social activities with local organizations in the coming days.
Sushma, PSI Malpe in her remarks congratulated the organisers and said that today people of all religions have come together and organised the blood donation camp. It is an exemplary work which gives a good message to today’s society. The department is always standing together with such communal harmony programmes.
Fr Sunil D’Silva, parish priest of St Antony’s Church Sastan donated blood for the 60th time in the camp and explained the importance of Blood Donation.
Dr Veena Kumari, District Surgeon of District Hospital Udupi, Ramesh Thingalaya President Samanvya Sarvadharma Sauhardha Samithi Thottam, Srinivas President Sanjivini Blood Donors Team Udupi, Praveen Grama Panchayat Member Badanidiyoor, Fr Edwin Joseph Pastor of CSI Ebenezer Church, Malpe and others were present.
