Bodies found in gutted car, cops suspect foul play
Halebeed (Hassan Dist), DHNS: Charred bodies of a man and a woman were found in a gutted car at Pushpagiri Hills near Halebeed on Friday night. Police suspect it to be a murder.
The deceased have been identified as 35-year-old Sandhya of Ranganaguddapalli village in Karkala taluk of Udupi district and 40-year-old Girish of Samudravalli village in Hassan district.
The bodies were found in a burning car by the roadside on Friday night by a few passersby who alerted the police. Halebeed police visited the spot and by that time, the car was completely gutted and the bodies charred.
Police suspect that the victims might have been murdered elsewhere and later, the bodies were placed in the car which was set ablaze near Pushpagiri. Police established the identity of the victims based on the Forensic Science Lab report.
Hassan SP Rahul Kumar Shahapurwad visited the spot. Local residents urged the police to intensify security near the hills as a large number of tourists visit the area.
