Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad Defuses  Explosive Device Found in Bag at MIA  

Mangaluru: The suspicious bag which contained explosive was finally defused by the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad in the Kenjar fields on January 20.

On January 20 morning the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), traced the Improvised explosive device (IED) in the bag which was placed in the ticket counter at Mangaluru International airport.

As the officials grew suspicious about the object they immediately informed the Mangaluru police. The bomb detection and disposal team were also informed and they immediately rushed to the spot. After an initial assessment, it was confirmed that there was a potential explosive device in the bag and they cordoned the area.

The bomb detection and disposal squad took the explosive device to a nearby field in Kenjar and defused it. So far it has not been confirmed as to what kind of explosive the bag contained.
