Brahmavar: Three Sanidhya Finance Associates Arrested for Allegedly Harassing Borrowers

Udupi: Brahmavar police have arrested three persons allegedly associated with Sanidhya Finance in Mangaluru for harassing borrowers after providing loans at high interest rates and demanding repayment of overdue instalments.

According to the police, Sanidhya Finance had allegedly been providing loans at high interest rates in the Kunjal area under the jurisdiction of Brahmavar Police Station. When borrowers failed to repay their instalments on time, they were allegedly subjected to harassment.

In connection with the case, a complaint was filed alleging that a motorcycle bearing registration number KA-03-HF-8253, belonging to Kunjal resident Ganesh Ganiga, was forcibly taken away and that guarantor Rajesh Naik was assaulted.

Based on Rajesh Naik’s complaint, Brahmavar police registered a case under Crime No. 144/2026, invoking Sections 137(2), 115(2), 118(2), 308, 351(2), 352 and 190 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 3 and 4 of the Karnataka Prohibition of Charging Exorbitant Interest Act, 2004.

The investigation is being conducted under the guidance of Udupi Sub-Division Deputy Superintendent of Police Belliyappa and Brahmavar Circle Inspector Gopikrishna. Investigating Officer and Brahmavar Police Station Sub-Inspector Ashok Malabagi, along with crime staff Kiran and Siddappa Sakenalli, carried out the operation.

The accused have been identified as Sandeep Shetty, a resident of Kulai, Mangaluru, and Vijith Shetty, a resident of Kavoor. Both were arrested on August 6 and produced before the court. Another accused, Sampath, a resident of Bajpe-Malavoor, Mangaluru, was arrested on August 13.

During the investigation, police seized the motorcycle allegedly taken from the borrower and the car allegedly used in the offence.

Further investigation is underway.
