Burqa-Clad Absconder Wanted in 23 Cases Arrested by Ullal Police

Mangaluru: Ullal Police have arrested Imran alias Surmo Imran, a notorious rowdy-sheeter who was absconding by allegedly using a burqa disguise to evade arrest despite multiple court warrants.

The accused, Imran alias Surmo Imran, a resident of Darga Road, Melangadi, Ullal, is involved in 23 criminal cases registered across Mangaluru City and Udupi district.

According to the police, Imran had been evading law enforcement for a prolonged period despite non-bailable warrants issued by various courts in several pending cases. To avoid detection, he allegedly wore a burqa while moving around and remained in hiding. Following sustained efforts, Ullal Police successfully traced and arrested him.

He has now been produced before the competent court.

Cases in Which Warrants Were Pending:

Ullal Police Station Crime No. 118/2017 – Sections 341, 504, 506, 323, 324, 307 read with 34 of the IPC.

Ullal Police Station Crime No. 422/2017 – Sections 341, 323, 506, 324, 307 read with 34 of the IPC.

Barke Police Station Crime No. 05/2018 – Sections 120B, 143, 147, 148, 323, 324, 353, 332, 427 read with 149 of the IPC.

Barke Police Station Crime No. 06/2018 – Sections 504, 324, 353, 332 read with 149 of the IPC.

Mangaluru Rural Police Station Crime No. 100/2019 – Section 395 of the IPC (Dacoity).

Police stated that the accused is involved in several other criminal cases registered at different police stations in Mangaluru City and Udupi District, bringing the total number of cases against him to 23. Further legal proceedings are underway.
