Cabinet Meeting in Mangaluru: Police Announce Traffic Diversions, Appeal to Public
Mangaluru: The Karnataka State Cabinet meeting will be held on September 18 at the District Administration Office (Praja Soudha) in Padil, Mangaluru.
In view of the meeting, the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and Cabinet ministers will arrive in Mangaluru on the evening of September 17. On the morning of September 18, they will travel through the city’s main roads to Praja Soudha to attend the Cabinet meeting.
Following the meeting, the dignitaries will travel to Udupi by helicopter from the helipad at Maryhill in the afternoon. They will subsequently return to Mangaluru and stay overnight before departing from the city the following morning.
In view of the dignitaries’ movement, traffic congestion and disruptions are likely on several major roads in the city. The police department has appealed to the public to use alternative routes in the interest of security and smooth traffic movement.
Designated Routes for VIP Movement
September 17 to 19:
Bajpe Airport – Kavoor – Bondel – Maryhill – KPT – Kadri Kambla – Dr B.R. Ambedkar Junction – Hampankatta – Clock Tower – Hamilton Junction.
September 18:
Hamilton Junction – Clock Tower – Hampankatta – Dr B.R. Ambedkar Junction – KPT Junction – Nanthoor Circle – Pumpwell – Naguri – Bajal Cross (Praja Soudha) – Padil Junction.
The police have appealed to the public not to park vehicles along the roads on the above routes. They have also stated that there will be no obstruction to the movement of ambulances and other emergency service vehicles.
Traffic Diversions
Vehicles travelling from Badria Junction towards Hamilton Junction via the front of Hotel Taj Vivanta should instead take the route through Badria Junction – Nileshwar Road – Rosario Road.
Similarly, vehicles travelling from Hamilton Junction towards Badria Junction via the front of Hotel Taj Vivanta should take the alternative route through Hamilton Junction – Nellikai Road.
Vehicles travelling from Pumpwell Junction towards Padil Junction via Naguri, as well as those travelling from Padil Junction towards Pumpwell via Naguri, have been advised to use either the Nanthoor Circle – Kaikamba – Maroli route or the Thokkottu – Deralakatte – Mudipu – Bollaar – Melkar route.
Vehicles travelling from Bajal Cross (Praja Soudha) towards Bajal and Kankanady Junction Railway Station should proceed along National Highway 66 and take the Jeppinamogaru gateway to reach Bajal, instead of using the Padil Bazaar Cross route.
Vehicles travelling from Thokkottu towards Pumpwell have been advised to enter the city via Mahakali Padpu – Mangaladevi.
The police department has appealed to the public to cooperate with the traffic arrangements being put in place in view of the Cabinet meeting and help ensure safe and smooth traffic movement.
