Candle vigil prayers to Shri Shri Shivakumar Swami Ji at the Basaveshwara statue in London.

 

On 21th January 2019 a special candle vigil condolence prayer was organized by The British Indian/ Kannada community & The Lambeth Basaveshwara foundation following the sad demise of His Holiness Shri Shri Shiva Kumar Swami Ji. They thanked Swami Ji for supporting the statue project in London.

On 17thof February 2013 Swami Ji donated and blessed the Basaveshwara Statue project in London with a foundation stone to be placed underneath the Basaveshwara statue in London to The Former Mayor of The London Borough of Lambeth Dr Neeraj Patil.(See photograph) This foundation stone is embedded at the base of the statue during its construction (See photograph)

The Basaveshwara statue erected at the Albert Embankment is not only the first statue to be unveiled by an Indian Prime Minister in the UK, but is also the first conceptual statue approved by the British Cabinet in the vicinity of the Parliament. This is located at Albert Embankment in London opposite the British Parliament.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the Basaveshwara statue 14th November 2015 and recently The Former Prime Minister of India Shri H.D Devegowda paid tribute to Basaveshwara statue in London on 26th October 2018.

Swami ji’s contribution to social work and eradication for child poverty in India is unparalleled and will always be remembered in India.
