Chicalim Carmel gets another Professed Member

Vasco: Sr Adelina Pereira made her solemn profession in the Order of Carmel at the hands of Mother Prioress Sr Theresita at the Eucharistic celebration held at the Cloistered Carmel Monastery, Chicalim. Fr Ronald D’Souza, Councillor Incharge of formation of the Karnataka-Goa Province of the Order of Discalced Carmelite presided over the Eucharistic celebration. Fr. Josewalt Rodrigues of Pallotti Home, Chicalim, Fr Mariano Goes e Proença, Parish Priest of Calvim Church, Fr Martinho Dourado of Guirdolim Chapel, Fr Ivo Dias, Superior of Carmelite Seminary, Mapusa, Fr Patricio Fernandes, Rector of Bom Jesus, Basilica, Fr Noel D’cunha of Carmelite Monastery, Margao, Fr Sylvestre D’Souza, Provincial Secretary, Fr Shyam fdcc of Canossians Fathers, Nagoa, and Fr Carlos Luis of Pallotti Home, Chicalim concelebrated the Eucharistic celebration.

Delivering a homily at the Eucharistic celebration, Fr. Ronaldo reflected on the true meaning of Vows and called the religious gathered to be rooted in Christ. Explaining the vows he said that vow is a free gift, a total self -giving, a life bound to God and an act of worship. “To live a life of Chastity, poverty and obedience, a religious need to be attached to the person of Jesus.” He said further. He appealed the faithful gathered to pray for the Sr. Adelina and other priests and religious.

Br. Malvino Alfonso was the liturgical commentator while Deacon Fantino Pereira along with the PrePhilosophy brothers animated the liturgy. Liturgical singing was led by the Cloistered Nuns. Fr Ronald D’Souza wished Sr Adelina on behalf of Fr Provincial and the members of the province. Sr Adelina delivered a vote of thanks.

Sr Adeline hails from the village of Galgibaga in Canacona and is the 4th daughter of her parents, late John Pereira and Mrs Joanita Pereira, After finishing her studies at St. Anthony’s High School, Galgibaga, and Government Higher Secondary School, Canacona, she joined the Canossian Daughters of Charity in 1990 and made her final commitment in the year 2000. She spent almost 21 years there, joyfully and generously giving herself in service of the Lord until she heard the gentle call of Our Lord inviting her to Carmel. She joined Cloistered Carmelite Monastery, Chicalim in the year 2015.
