Chikkamgaluru SP Annamalai suspends 4 PC’s for involving in Gambling

Chikkamgaluru: Superintendent of Police Annamalai issued an order on Sunday, August 21 suspending four police constables for allegedly gambling with 31 others.

The suspended Constables are Yogish, Poonesh, Basavaraj and Lokesh.

According to sources on Sunday acting on a tip-off, a team led by SP Annamalai along with other police officials raided a guest house on the outskirts of Chikkamagaluru in the afternoon. During the raid, the SP found four police constables of Chikkamagaluru rural police station, Basavanahalli Police station, DAR and Lokayukta PC along with other 31 persons involved in gambling. When the team raided the place all those caught were found playing three card games in the premises.

The arrested persons along with the seized amount of Rs 1.5 lakh cash were handed over to the Chikkamagaluru rural police station for further investigation.

Annamalai also issued a suspension order for four constables with immediate effect.

After Annamalai has taken charge as SP of Chikkamagaluru, he has directed the police officials to have control over matka gambling in their respective station limits. He also warned of disciplinary action against officials if they were supporting matka, gambling or any other anti-social activities.
