Cleaner Dies after Fish Laden Lorry Rolls Over on Chandragiri Bridge

Kasargod: The cleaner of a fish laden truck was killed when the truck rolled over after the driver lost control of the vehicle on the Chandragiri bridge, Kanhagad – Kasargod state Highway here on April 22.

The deceased has been identified as Naser (36), from Punnapra in Alappuzha. The injured driver of the truck has been identified as Harris (35).

According to sources, on April 22, early morning at 5:00 am, a truck laden with fish was on its way to Alappuzha coming from Goa. At Chandragiri bridge, when the truck driver tried to avoid hitting an auto coming from the opposite direction he lost control of the vehicle, hit the retaining wall of the bridge and rolled over. The impact was such, the cleaner was thrown into the river.

The fire tenders and the rescuers reached the spot and found the body floating after several hours near the Chemnad lake.

The body was lifted from the lake and sent to the Kasargod General Hospital for post-mortem. After the incident, the traffic on the Kanhagad – Kasargod state Highway was disrupted.
